A Road Trip

So, road rules are different here…a LOT different…there basically are no rules unless the police need some drinking money for the weekend…you get pulled over, you give them some cash and they wave you good bye.  I see it all of the time, but who am I to judge…this is not my country…so I just ride with my law abiding tuktuk driver and I just watch others get pulled over!!!

On our way home from the casino…

drive up service…water, food, red bull…right on the side of the road!

our coffee shop…necklace store…ice cream shop…mango stop…toothbrushes for sale…downy fabric softener…you name it!

Ummmm…yes, these are 2 lane roads…one way goes north, one way goes south…but who knew?  you drive where you want until you see a car coming and get out of their way.

yep…the kids were sitting in the back and waved to us as we passed!

hanging out on the TOP of the truck…probably saw about 20 of those…people sitting on top of vans and trucks…not unusual

I laugh to myself because growing up in King Salmon, Alaska, I remember sitting in the back of an F-150, a Chevy Luv, falling out of a car when my mom got high centered and I wanted to see what was going on, so I opened the door and looked and the car became centered and I fell out!…for some reason seeing people on top of a van should seem abnormal to me…but I guess my Alaskan Roots show thru again…It’s not until I am looking at photos and thinking about it does it make me think twice about it…”THAT’S dangerous!”…anyway, thanks Alaska for preparing me for my adventures…things are different but the same and I love this experience!
