A little Bangkok…

Our boys needed a follow up for their ear surgery they had back in July…so we paid a little extra for a better time (last time, insurance booked it for us and shipped out at 9:30 PM…THREE hours after bedtime…it was chaos, to say the least!)…Zachary had a hard time falling asleep the night before…he was so excited to go on a plane and get to Bangkok!  We were up and at ‘em at 4:45 and hit the airport…it was so much better…everyone was rested and happy and excited to be on the plane…and on an adventure…we landed happy and ready to roll…

…but if you’ve never been to Bangkok…you can’t begin to understand the traffic…UGGGHHHHH…our 35 minute ride took almost 2 hours…even this funny sign couldn’t keep a smile on anyone’s face…

We were upgraded to a big corner room, set up cots and shut the shades and let the naptime begin…we had BIG plans for the day!

(the hotel in the middle is where we stayed last time!)

We had the skytrain figured out and head off to the Siam Paragon…in search of Starbucks, Auntie Anne’s, Subway and McDonalds…we found them all…but skipped McDonalds!  We also made it the Aquarium under the mall and the boys LOVED it!  Peter Parker …er, Zachary James (he was insistent on wearing clothes over his Spiderman “costumer” so that everyone wouldn’t know he was the real Spiderman, merely, Peter Parker visiting Bangkok!)…Trevor and Zachary were definitely more excited and interested…Brandon was happy to sit on my hip and stay close!  He’s a mama’s boy these days!

We were tired and ready for our beds and Dr. appointments the next day!…well, we thought we were!  The twins were fast and painless…then Mama’s Dr. needed to draw some blood and wait for labs…and let’s just say, that hospital was not big enough for 3 tired Kochel Boys…back to the Renaissance for naps and mama skytrained it back to the hospital!!!

I spotted a Starbucks and our favorite little Mexican place on the way there, so afterwards, I stopped in for a HEAVENLY quesadilla and margarita and then took the liquor taste away with a yummy vanilla spice latte!

Hospital was finished!  YAY…or so I thought?!  I got back and we were getting ready to hit the zoo and little Brando fell and bit right thru his lip!  :\  POOR BABY…blood everywhere, calls to his Dr. and a decision to brave the 4:30 traffic and hit the hospital…Took over an hour to go a few blocks and by the time we got there, the bleeding had stopped and while the Dr. thought stitches were necessary, he left it up to me to put him thru shots and stitches or a small scar…he can have a scar.

I must add this side note…hospitals in Bangkok…ROCK!  We went to Bumrungrad and it was ah-mazing!  We were registered as new patients in about 5 minutes, directed to the pediatric ER and seen within 30 minutes…they had a huge play area, coloring tables, computers, movie screen and everything in between.  There were about 10 Dr.’s on call and they assigned you to a room to wait in front of.  I was IMPRESSED…and then when it was all said and done?…the entire ER visit with antibiotics cost me 900 Baht…translated, about $30 USD…WHAT?!

We had about 5 baths and who wouldn’t enjoy that view!

We finished up the trip with an evening to the “Toy Story” (aka, Toys r Us), dinner at McDonalds and another night in!  In the morning, I hit up the Guess 80% off sales (and let me tell you, it was HEAVEN to actually be a size S or M…not XXL…and have it fit!  TRUE sizes…for a western girl!) and got a couple of shirts for me and a few outfits for my nannies and we called it a trip and headed to the airport!
