Missing my KK

I have loved KK for forever…since my first haircut with him, I knew he was the one for me!!!  I have easily persuaded MANY people to see him with the fabulous hair he bestowed on me!…the right cut, the perfect colors…I’ve had THE BEST hair for years…not so much right now…I don’t blame any one person (except maybe myself)…I’ve been a total hair slut trying this person and that person, perming, cutting, coloring, cutting again, trying another person, having a local style my hair (burning the crap out of it) and maybe cutting it again???…added to the fact the I lost almost half of my hair due to the post-partum effects of having twins…let’s just say, there are probably not too many people asking for my stylists name right now!!!

So, I have chopped and chopped my hair until I will not chop it for quite some time!  I am finally happy with where it is right now…(thank you Jaquie from Chocolate Blonde)

Movie Date

We have a real movie theatre here!!!  Finally!!!  I think that is something Z & I have really missed (if you recall, we saw How to Train your Dragon 8 times last year…blame it on modified bed rest)!  Well…about 3 weeks ago, a new cinema (the first of its kind) was opened in Phnom Penh…we had a “middle of the day” date and had some Chinese food with friends and we all piled into the movie…SOLD OUT on a Friday afternoon!  Kung Fu Panda II in 3-D.  Popcorn wasn’t as good as home (we like LOTS of butter dripping onto our laps)…but, we saw a 3-D movie…in a theatre…with popcorn…and soda…for $13.

Date Night

We’ve sort of marked out 2…YES, TWO, nights per week as “date night”…it’s wonderful!  We always know we will meet up for a drink and dinner on Tuesdays and then on Fridays, we kick it up a notch and know we will head out together and stay out a bit later!…Only here does date night include stopping on the side of the road and getting some gasoline out of a “Coke Liter Bottle”:

Only in Cambodia…

…would Zachary think the dogs sitting on the side of the road licking their butts were monkeys…cracks me up that his first thought is, “Look!  Monkey’s picking their butts!”…

Bionic Woman???

SO call me a blondie (sorry blond friends)…but sometimes I don’t know where my mind is!!!  I haven’t run on a treadmill in 8 months…I have been running outside…a LOT.  Well, last week it was just a little TOO hot and I a very nice treadmill waiting for my feet at the Sofitel…I ran to the club, did my circuit and jumped on the treadmill thinking I would kick some butt running 8 mph …I mean, after all, I HAVE been putting in some miles AND breaking my own records!  I jump on, hit 8.3 (just to kick it up a bit) and I run…and I’m thinking, "Geez…for this pricey gym and these FANCY treadmills…it sure takes a bit to “get up there”".  SO I up it to 9, then to 10, then 11, then 12…I’m FINALLY feeling like I am running!  “WOW!!!”, I think, “All this running has been paying off!  I have REALLY hit it this time!  I mean, really…what, am I a future Olympian?”  So I up it a little bit more to see how it feels and I’m feeling good…like REALLY good…I mean, how can I not? I’m COMFORTABLY running at 12.7 KPH…yeah…KILOMETERS per hour…NOT MILES per hour!!!  LOL…at least I felt like the bionic woman for 2 minutes!  (by the way, that’s only 7.89 mph…not the 8 I was shooting for!!!  LOL)

005

…at least this moto can make me go fast!!!

(For the record…I’m going to start using the metric system…I weigh 67 and I run 12.5…nobody needs to know anything different!)

“Two” Cute!!!

I always think how lucky I am with my babies…I’ve never just said to myself the “typical” twin monikers people like to say when they hear we have twins like:  "Do you ever wonder, why me?"…"Better you than me."…"Oh, I couldn’t do it." …and if you have ever had twins, you’ll know it’s not easy all of the time…shoot, MOST of the time…but it is WORTH it!  Every missed nap because one wakes the other up, every passed ear infection, snotty nose, bumped head, passed flu, puke nights, diarrhea diapers, double vaccinations…it’s all worth it!  …especially when you get to see this:

Chase me big brother!!

These two are precious…they touch each other, laugh, hug, kiss, chase and keep each other up when they are supposed to be napping…but I wouldn’t change one thing!!!!!

Enjoying the WATER!!!

All of my babies are water lovers!!!  I was having a hard time getting all of the kids in the pool…Zach can swim, but the twins need to be held…thank goodness for Toys-N-Me!!!  For $11, now both boys can get into the water…Trevor likes to try and climb out, while little B likes to sit back and relax!…(Big Brother likes to think he is a baby sometimes too!)

Meeting Baby Sak

It is custom here for the mother to stay home and off her feet for the first month after a baby is born…and the same for the baby…he cannot “go out” until he is one month old…I was DYING to meet little Sok…but without Khamary here, I had no one to take me to meet her with Leak because then there would be no one here to watch the babies…we attempted to go several times over the past month, but SICK babes kept us away…SO…lucky for us, everyone was healthy to attend “Sok’s 1 Month Shower”!!!  …and…He is precious, I am in love and cannot wait for them to move back with us!

017019022

He’s wearing the little outfit I bought for him…his mama calls him “her little monkey”!

024

SO tiny…SO precious…a NEW baby!!!

025

there was a little bit of jealousy…but Trev IS a mama’s boy!

027

Zach is in love too…he kept wanting to hold him!

030

Zachary told Auntie Khamary that she needed to be done and move back home.  He misses her and wants that baby home!  Zachary spoke it, I guess she must listen!!!!

Going Local!

I am trying very hard to learn the local ways!  I have Khmer Lessons 2 times per week, I speak it to my nannies to practice, I ride around on the back of a moto for date night, take my kids around town in a tuk tuk…and you know what?  I like it!  Life is simple here.  I read my books, take Z to school, go running, hit up the pool at the Sofitel (OK…that doesn’t really count as being local)…and I shop at the markets…and accept the fact that shopping is a 2 day ordeal!  Saturday, I went for a run and Z went to the office with Daddy…when I came home, I got the call to pick him up, so I borrowed my housekeepers bike and rode over!  (I need to get me one of those!)  We shopped in the little alley next to the bank and I bought 3 iced coffees (those are the bags hanging from the handle bars) and a bag of sugar (to make fry bread)…all without a word of English!  (is it OK to pat yourself on the back in this instance?  because my arm is getting a bit tired!)
